For Tate Exchange x Central Saint Martins, myself and Junda Dietze (classmate and set designer) created a temporary nailsalon in Tate Modern. This was modeled after South East Asian nailsalons in Highury Islington and Finsbury park.

For a few hours, I manned the salon and gave free basic manicures and handmassages. Conversations with the audience would emerge and unfold naturally, I did not have a prompt, yet somehow we would often end up talking about race.
The salon was made of wooden slats, wall paper, table, chair, nail tech equipment, fake flowers, vinyl flooring and a lamp.
